The Homeworld Cities, the Capital World, and the Colonies
_
The Democratic Colonies is divided into the remaining Democratic Colonies presence on Earth known as the Homeworld Cities, the Capital World of Tannhauser, and the interstellar colonies. The Homeworld Cities were quickly depopulated as citizens emigrated away from the crowded, often polluted conditions of the old cities en masse, but they retain considerable historical and cultural significance for the people of the Democratic Colonies.

Name | Star System | Population (in billions) | Notes | The Homeworld Cities | Sol | 1 | Birthplace of the Democratic Colonies, home to many of its most cherished historical treasures. | Capital World of Tannhauser | Zvyezdarok-Perim | 5.5 | The current political, cultural, technological and economic center of the Democratic Colonies. | Venusberg | Zvyezdarok-Perim | 1 | A terraformed moon orbiting Tannhauser, Venusberg is renowned for its natural beauty and scenic views. It has developed a large hospitality industry providing visitors from Tannhauser with luxurious resort and recreational facilities. | Joyous Garde | Camelot | 6.5 | The largest industrial centre in the nation, Joyous Garde is a manufacturing powerhouse and hosts numerous space-based shipyards in its orbit, as well as processing facilities for the rich vibranium deposits found in the systems asteroid belt. These vibranium deposits, mining, and processing facilities are of special strategic importance as vibranium is a key material in the construction of Democratic Colonies spacecraft and military materials. | Shalott | Camelot | 3.5 | A world recently terraformed at enormous expense by the federal government, Shalott is a lower density world where a slower paced, more para-agrarian lifestyle is generally practiced. It is well known for its artisanal metal and glassworking, as well as the breeding of creatures such as horses and elephants for recreational purposes. | Blessed Bounty | Gifted | 4 | An exceptionally temperate world of mild and predictable weather patterns, Blessed Bounty is primarily agricultural in nature, features a low density population distribution, and has been dubbed the "bread basket of the nation." Craft beers, spirits, and wines are a major source of employment and pride. | Phobetor | Taggart-Orti'Ago | 4 | A fast growing colony world in orbit around the companion star in the binary star system of Taggart-Orti'Ago, notable in that it is the only world in the Democratic Colonies on which no drug laws exist. | Phantasus | Taggart-Orti'Ago | 2 | A fast growing colony world in orbit around the companion star in the binary star system of Taggart-Orti'Ago, primarily serving as an industrial base for the neighboring world of Phobetor. |

While the largest of the interstellar colony worlds possess populations in the multiple billions, they are the exception as the majority of interstellar colonies are small, lightly populated settlements oriented towards scientific research, extracting unique planetary resources, or maintaining military or general supply outposts.
